We have worked with a lovely set of women from a remote village in Uttrakhand to put together rakhis using pine needles, for this year’s Rakshabandhan, that are delicate and earth friendly at the same time 😊

Why pine needle, you ask…

Pine Needles are present in abundance in this mountain village. Not only do these pine needles degrade slowly in the environment, but are also a major cause of forest fires. These needles also increase surface runoff of water, and therefore lead to decreased ground water collection. Thus it is becoming increasingly important to clear these from the forest surface 

So this year renew yours bond of sibling love with these earth-friendly rakhis that are a labour of pure, handmade love, and additionally give rural women a steadier means to livelihood :)
